Hello.

Life is full of breathtaking beauty and tragic pain, we don’t have to look far to see that reality. And yet, how often do we try to sweep the painful parts away with a quick “I’m fine!” as an answer to “How are you doing?” or muster through them alone. I believe no one is designed to go through the pains of life alone. However, life is broken and sometimes we do find ourselves alone in trying to navigate the challenges we face.

This is where my passion lies.

It is nothing short of an honor to come alongside and walk with you through the brokenness, whether it is a tension-filled relationship, anxiety-riddled self-doubt, shame that’s threatening to keep you in the depths of depression or whatever else it may be. Because as much as there is brokenness all around and in us, there is also beauty. That first step of facing pain and brokenness head on to get to the beauty on the other side can change our trajectory entirely.

Daybreak Counseling gets its name from this very experience. The definition of daybreak is “the time in the morning when daylight first appears; dawn.” It is in that moment, the very first minute in the beginning of the day, that sunlight starts to shine, when something incredible happens: the whole world begins to be transformed from darkness into light. I hope today can be the first step in your healing journey, the first moment daylight breaks.

Brooke Denniston, MA, LPC, NCC

I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and am all the cliché for it. I love anything outdoors from pickle ball on a Saturday afternoon to skiing that beautiful fluffy powder in Vail’s back bowls. I’m not all outdoorsy though. A good book, great movie or simple afternoon at home with friends and family is also right up my alley. Of all the roles in my life, one of my favorites right now is that of “Mama” to my two young daughters.

I earned my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and received my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado after making a career switch from operations in the Denver technology start-up world. After this shift and before founding Daybreak Counseling, I worked in both youth substance abuse programs and within the community mental health environment. I have experience working with a large range of mental health struggles from schizophrenia, depression and anxiety, relationship issues, family tensions, identity struggles, trauma and more. I love working with people to overcome, adapt, grow and change; truly an honor.

I am trained in the integration of faith and spirituality within a Christian tradition and would happily incorporate this into our sessions if desired. Please let me know if you would like to discuss what this might look like.

“The quickest way for anyone to reach the sun and the light of day is not to run west, chasing after the setting sun, but to head east, plunging into the darkness until one comes to the sunrise.”
